Sandstorm is a nice organizer, which lets you run your own server and install apps like EtherCalc, GitLab, Etherpad, Wekan, and more as easily as you'd install apps on your phone. Sandstorm handles login & access control and can run any web app that runs on Linux, though some apps may need changes to work within the Sandstorm sandbox. In this article, we will guide you through the installation process.
Before starting with the software, you need to know, is that the Sandstorm software is compatible with most of the recent Linux distributions.
InstallationTo start the installation process execute the following command:
curl https://install.sandstorm.io | bash
This will begin the installation, from now on, you will need to follow the installation wizard via your terminal and later your internet browser.
Once you start the installation wizard in your terminal you will be asked a few questions.
1. How are you going to use this Sandstorm install? [1]
press "
Enter".
2. Rest assured that Sandstorm itself won't run as root.
OK to continue? [yes]
press "
Enter".
3. What *.sandcats.io subdomain would you like? []
enter your preferred name, which will serve as your subdomain, to access the software.
4.Enter your email address: []
enter your email address, this will be used in order to recover your domain.
Once your finish with these steps, you will be provided with an additional message, which will contain the link, that you will need to use, in order to continue the installation via your internet browser. The link should be something like:
https://yourdomain.sandcats.io/setup/token/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxIn your browser, you will be presented with another easy setup up steps, so just enter the details and choose the settings based on your preferences or requirements and press "Next" all the way through.
When everything is done, you will have to finish the installation by going to the link similar to this:
https://yourdomain.sandcats.io/adminThat is it, installation complete, you may start using the software, which will always be accessed via the link above.

3.10 kernel is a requirement by Sandstorm. You can install it easily on our Linux VPS.
